A vibrant yellow hotel stands next to the lake accompanied by The Octagon and a few other bizarrely shaped accommodations. The Andes stand tall all around you and their massive glaciers touch the edge of the lake. There are ski runs in every direction you look. To the right is the downhill course which appears insanely steep and fast. I get butterflies just looking at it. To the left are the tech runs surrounded by some tracked out powder. To kill the limited time we have after an amazing day on the slopes there are four ping pong tables, two pool tables, a climbing wall and a gymnasium in the basement as well as two beautiful outdoor swimming pools.
The best of the best ski racers are here as well. We took over the American national teams course this afternoon and Julia Mancuso, Ted Legity and Axel Lund Svindal are walking around the resort. It's inspirational to see the level I want to be at in a few years time.
We spent the last 7 days in el Colorado where we got some pretty productive tech training before we moved to Portillo. The plan for the next few days is Super G and Downhill but the weather is predicted to cover us with another snow storm this week. This would inhibit us from going as fast as we would like but safety first, am I right? 😜 13 days left in Chile and I plan to make the most of them down here!
